No Gumption in Assumption

Can you make a shrewd assumption,

If you have enough gumption?

or would that be too assuming of you?

Would it be oxymoronic to think you could?

Or do you think it would be good

to make a shrewd assumption on what to do.

If someone is seeking your consent

Are you sure you know what is meant?

or are you assuming that you know all you need?

If it is consent from another that you seek

Is their understanding solid or weak?

And in court, what would you have to plead?

To Assume is to draw your own conclusion

And to create a possible delusion

Which could be disastrous to your journey

But if some gumption you use instead

Using knowledge to plan ahead

You might avoid a ride on a gurney

Never Assume Anything

The trouble with consent
